Re: Atlanta 2007

It has come to the attention of the IPAI caretaker committee that a
certain individual has been calling the IPAI members at their homes and
disseminating completely made-up but certainly false information to the
effect that some members of the caretaker committee are reconsidering
the IPAI convention venue.

My attention has been drawn to a mass email sent yesterday by Mr. Emmanuel
Ollawa, President of the California Chapter of the IPAI, with the Subject Heading:
CONVENTION UPDATE. As the Chairman of the IPAI Caretaker Committee, I am
constrained to issue this alert, and urge us all to disregard the mail and not act
based on any aspect of its content. This is because the issues, positions, and
impressions conveyed in the mass mail do not represent any aspect of the IPAI
Caretaker committee’s deliberations or final decisions regarding the planning, final
agenda, or Order of Business for the convention.

The IPAI Final Draft Constitution is released for members review. This latest draft
constitution supersedes that circulated around December 2006. Members should
take time to review the draft constitution as many times as possible, and prepare
their comments with respect to amendments to the draft constitution.

The debate on the draft constitution is scheduled for
September 1, 2007
during the 2nd Igbere Convention in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Following
an expected lively debate, the draft constitution would be ratified and adopted by
the general members present at the Town Hall Meeting.

Delegates to the 2007 Igbere Convention in Atlanta

Childcare will be provided to delegates to the Igbere Convention in
Atlanta, Georgia. Parents/Guardians with young children (3 years of
age and up) who desire childcare are advised to get in touch with Mrs.
Ezinne Ugwa Ogbureke at the following email address:
eogbureke@netscape.net.  Please provide to Mrs. Ogbureke the
names of your young children, ages, parent/guardian names, and
contact telephone numbers. Special provisions are being made to
care for our young ones to enable the parents participate fully in all
the convention activities. Name tags will be provided for easy and
secure access to the Childcare Center.

Last minute hotel reservations
Delegates who are unable to make last minute hotel reservations at
Clarion Hotel under the "IPAI Group Rate" are encouraged to try
online hotel reservation via www.hotel.com. Delegates may still secure
hotel reservations at the Clarion Hotel online. The rooms reserved
online may be in a different floor of the same hotel. In that way the
delegates will be spared the inconvenience of staying in a different
hotel. Also, delegates who reserved more rooms than they actually
need are encouraged to relinquish or cancel the excess rooms now to
enable other delegates take advantage of the group rate and reserve
rooms as late as this week.

Dear Igbere Sons and Daughters,
Letter to all Igbere sons and daughters in Diaspora

On September 1st and 2nd Igbere sons and daughters met
in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, under the auspices of Igbere
Progressive Association International (IPAI) for "IPAI
Convention 2007", (Ezumezu 2007 in Diaspora).

We deliberated, and voted on many issues of common
benefit to every Igbere person and our community; the
house also debated, amended the IPAI final draft
constitution as presented by the outgoing IPAI Caretaker
Committee, and voted unanimously to adopt the amended
draft constitution. A ratified copy of the IPAI constitution is
hereby attached.

The first Executive Committee and Board members of IPAI
were elected in accordance with the constitution. The
elected Executive Committee members are Chief Michael C.
K. Awa (President), Mr. Saul Onyeuku (Vice President), Mr.
Ukaegbu Ukaegbu (Secretary), Mr. Leonard Ibeka (Publicity
Secretary), Mr. Emeka Ejieke (Financial Secretary), Mrs.
Ezinne Ogbureke (Treasurer) and Mr. Okorie Uzor-Nsiegbe
(Provost). The elected members of Board of Directors are
Chief Eme Onyeuku (Chairman of the Board), Dr. Kalu
Ogbureke (Secretary of the Board), Mr. Udemgba A. Igu.
Mr. Agbai Ekperi, Mr. Peter A. Imaa, Dr. Ugwa Ogbureke,
and Chief Esse Esse. Furthermore, the standing
committees' members as required by the constitution have
been constituted accordingly.

It is worthy of note that 90 percent of the members of the
standing committee were volunteers and 10 percent
appointed. This is an indication of our enthusiasm and
willingness to make IPAI a success. The President thanks

In the spirit of oneness and brotherhood that has been the
bedrock of Igbere community, the Executive Committee was
authorized to write this letter to all sons and daughters of
Igbere in Diaspora and urge everyone to identify with or
become an active member of IPAI. The great success of the
IPAI Convention 2007 in Atlanta Georgia was a history well

Therefore, it is imperative that we provide adequate
information about IPAI and also appeal to every Igbere
person in Diaspora to join IPAI in accordance with IPAI
constitution (Ref. ARTICLE III: Sections 1 & 2). We do
understand that some of us could not attend the IPAI
Convention 2007 in Atlanta Georgia due either to
scheduling conflicts or circumstances. We missed your
presence, contribution of ideas and resources, but the
opportunity to participate is not lost as we are all invited to
become active members because IPAI belongs to every
Igbere sons and daughters in Diaspora as specified in the
IPAI constitution.

The Executive Committee is looking forward to every one's
active membership, role and to work with you. Unity is
paramount to our success. Please be a proud member of
IPAI. We encourage every Igbere person to read the
constitution. You are encouraged to join your local chapter
and if you do not have a chapter/branch yet, please let the
Membership and Outreach Committee or Mr. Ukaegbu
Ukaegbu, the IPAI Secretary know.

General information pertaining to IPAI or relevant to Igbere
is always available at our website
www.ipaiinc.org. Some
special information\\ill be disseminated to IPAI members by
Mr. Leonard Ibeka, the IPAI Publicity Secretary or via our
official e-mail info@ipaiinc.org . We encourage you to join
and maintain your IPAI membership to receive this
privileged information and be part of IPAI growth, and the
development of Igbere. You will be glad you did.

This letter is intended for every Igbere person in Diaspora.
Therefore, we ask you to acknowledge its receipt as soon
as possible, through info@ipaiinc.org no matter how you
received it (i.e. whether it was sent directly or forwarded or
printed or even read to you). If you know any Igberian in
Diaspora who has not received this letter directly, please
provide us with the appropriate email contact to enable us
forward this letter to such individual(s). If you do not have
an email address we encourage you to extend your regular
postal address to the IPAI Secretary to ensure that you
receive the hard copy of this particular letter.

The OLIVE BRANCH Report, 2009

In March 2008, the foundation President of Igbere
Progressive Association International (IPAI) Inc, Chief
Michael Awa, delegated a commission charged with
extending an Olive Branch to a group of Igbere sons and
daughters aggrieved by the change of venue for the 2nd
IPAI 2007 convention (“Ezumezu in Diaspora”) from Los
Angeles to Atlanta. This initiative by the President was
informed by understandable sentiments expressed at the
Atlanta convention. Generally, these sentiments
underscored the desire to get every Igberian in Diaspora
back onboard for the greater goal of unity essential to
attaining our aspirations as an organization.

The President charged me with the task of assembling a
team of two or three IPAI members, preferably from our
pool of distinguished elders, with whom to work out both
the contact person(s) on the aggrieved side and the
strategy for negotiation. The President intended this
initiative as an outreach of goodwill to the pre-Atlanta 2007
aggrieved individuals, and to complement a Delegates’
resolution at the Atlanta convention directing the President
to extend an invitation to IPAI membership, without
conditions, to every Igbere son and daughter in Diaspora.
